Apogee



 

Introduction

Nothing too elaborate regarding this build. One of my junior characters needed a ship. I like split hull designs. This is the result. I didn't nor do have an elaborate story behind it.

Functionally the ship does a respectable job at combat, can store a fair amount of cargo, and even manage a small number of passengers.

 

Head Canon/Lore

The Apogee is a Messier-class Long Range Exploration vessel. It is relatively heavily shielded and moderately armed for defense, but its true strength is its grav jump ability. The Messier-class is designed for a small crew to maintain sustained exploration operations, far away from the civilized systems of the UC and Freestar.

The Apogee was purchased and converted for private use, replacing the Science Lab with a Workshop. Now it is used as a light freighter and personal craft for adventurer, explorer, and sometimes mercenary, Tobin Cobb.

Assembly

Select all of the components of the Undercarriage layer and drag them to the Main Deck. The Stroud Braking Engines will rest underneath the Stroud Nose Cap E pieces.

On the Structural Layer, place the Shield on top of the Grav Drive and the Turret on top of the Nova Cowling Mid, Aft point. Select all of the components and drag them over to the Main Deck. The Grav Drive will rest on top of the Reactor.

    Now that’s a fantastic Frontier slot build right there. I can definitely see myself borrowing this ship plan. Small enough for a one person crew, but set up for those pesky missions you have to bring a companion with. Very nice.

  Nova Galactic Vault-Tec: Star Vault   Introduction Okay, @Mtfreeman (on the Starfield Anonymous Discord) made a passing comment about making a Vault-Tec space vault. Here is my answer to that comment (he never made it an official challenge). Starfield Builds: Celestia

Celestia Introduction The Celestia is a B-class multi-purpose vehicle. It is a competent fighter, cargo transport, and passenger ship all at once. I don't remember which ship I built it from, but the Fuel Tank is beyond the character's Ship Design skill. It was most certainly a pirate ship of some sort, with "pirate" meaning any of the antagonistic factions out there. The Celestia is greatly inspired by the Galaxy-class Freighter from the Wing Commander: Privateer game from a couple of decades past. That ship had much more narrow engine nacelles and they were mounted on thin rails. I think that this ship captures the overall feel of the Galaxy-class within the Starfield universe.   Head-canon Lore The Celestia is a Galactic-class civilian transport built by the Deimos Staryard in the Sol system.   Redshift Introduction WARNING : This ship uses a fair amount of merging techniques to get the engine pods to look like they do. Rather than try to explain each step, please visit Crimson Flyboy's tutorial video on merging . I used the drop merging technique on those pieces . That out of the way, this is my "entry" for the Discord Ship Building challenge. As this is an informal challenge, the only rule was to build a ship for a member of Constellation.  I chose Noel, as she is the least developed character in Constellation. I don't play nice with the Constellation members, but I know that Noel is not a companion and, according to an online source, doesn't really have much of a backstory. That was perfect for me, as it gave me room to invent something whole cloth.
