Starfield Builds: Civ Express

Civ Express

 Introduction

While watching a CrimsonFlyboy video about unique variants of vendor starships, the idea came upon me to do a Class-A variant of the Civ Shuttle/Abyss Trekker. I started with a Va'ruun Dirge and modified the layout and color scheme. From the HopeTown vendor, I bought the HopeTech Hab Crossbrace that allows for transit between the Bay, Docker, and main hull piece. The remainder of the ship was built at the Outpost Landing Pad with Console. It was only after I built it that I noticed that I put the "pontoon" on the opposite side as it is on the Civ Shuttle. That can easily be remedied with just a few steps.

This was a quick build and in assembling this tutorial, I noticed some things that I might change. The most glaring of these is having the Particle Cannons in front of the Braking Engine. The easy swap would be to exchange one of the Stroud caps on the "pontoon" with the Braking Engine. Another would be to move the missile launcher to the top of the Stroud cap, the ballistic cannon to the spine on the main deck, and the particle cannons to the Horizon mount. I also moved the Shield forward, so that it is hidden below the fuel tank.

While I saw potential upgrades to the core systems, weapons, and shields, I wanted to use the equipment from the donor ship to reduce costs. I'm not 100% sold on the Deimos spine pieces that I chose for this, so that might be an area for visual improvement.

Head Canon/Lore

Stroud-Eckland, seeing the popularity of the Civ Shuttle, decided to launch a similar vessel with broader appeal to everyday consumers. The Civ Express is the end result.

And Now For Some Fun

While there are no actual faction variants of this ship, being a custom build and all, if you wanted to role-play as one of the two factions that might have a faction-specific version of this ship, here are two variants to consider.

Ecliptic Poignard

The Ecliptic have commandeered a few Civ Express craft and customized them to their purpose. They have removed the missile launcher and ballistic cannon, moved the Horizon mount to the starboard side of the bridge and attached the particle cannon to that. The rear Nova cowling has been removed and a Stroud Brace, with another Horizon mount attached had been put into its place. Two more particle cannon have been attached there.

Va'ruun Orison

Like the Ecliptic, several Civ Express vessels have fallen into Va'ruun hands. Aside from the typical color of Va'ruun ships, and being renamed as the Orison, the Va'ruun variant is identical to the commercial version.
